Belfast and London-based AgeTech company Kraydel have been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s Spark DPS, to accelerate delivery of “revolutionary” technology for older adults.

Crown Commercial Service (CCS) supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2018/19, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits worth £945m – supporting world-class public services that offer the best value for taxpayers.

As a CCS supplier, Kraydel aims to accelerate deployment of the Konnect system to the NHS and social care sector through simplified public procurement; ensuring faster, more cost-effective, and 100% compliant delivery.

Kraydel’s CEO, Amer Fasihi, commented: “It’s fantastic that we have been appointed to CCS’s Spark DPS. This is a great opportunity to extend our reach and engagement with the health and social care sector. With customers already describing Konnect as revolutionary and a game-changer, we believe now is the time to accelerate our roll-out, and Spark is going to be critical for that.”

Kraydel’s Konnect is the only TV-based video calling and remote health monitoring system (we’ve integrated a range of sensors and IoT devices into the system). It is designed to help older adults improve social connectivity and their support independence while delivering peace of mind to family and carers.

Despite the increasing costs of caring for the growing population of older adults, we believe many of the tech solutions currently available are sub-optimal. The vast majority of solutions rely on tablet and smartphone apps which have low adoption rates and exacerbate technophobia and anxiety amongst older adults. We took a user-centric approach for Konnect delivering video calling and well-being monitoring through the Users’ own TV; it’s the biggest, brightest, loudest screen in the home, and it’s the technology that they are most familiar with, occupying the best location in the home.

To date, Kraydel has agreed to trials with over twenty partners including NHS Trusts, Care Homes, leading national charities, and academic and community innovation centres. By enabling TV video-consultations and remote data capture, Konnect is being tested as a way of virtualising care, possibly even delivering “hospital in the home”. Kraydel aims to accelerate efficiency and cost savings to NHS Trusts, CCGs, Local Government, and the social care sector by:

  • Delivering high-quality care outside of hospitals in a Users own home
  • Reducing delays in the discharge of Care
  • Reducing pressure on hospital capacity
  • Providing increased capacity to treat more people in their own homes
  • Avoiding unnecessary hospital visits
  • Addressing social isolation and loneliness
